2016 was my biggest year for wedding videography, filming from Sonoma to Pleasanton, all around San Francisco, down to Monterey and Big Sur, and in my own back yard of Santa Cruz. 2017 is shaping up to be even grander... Many thanks to the inspiring couples I've had the privilege to work with!
Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley is one of my favorite places to film. The lush vineyards and brilliant blue skies are a wonderful backdrop for a wedding...the architecture and sprawling grounds provide so many awesome vistas to capture. Anna & John, although nervous at first in front of the cameras, proved to be naturals after a few moments, and were totally at ease once we explored the surroundings. It was a privilege to film their unique love story with Anna's Russian-American family, friends from university, John's southern clan and AirForce compatriots, all gathered to celebrate.
Cindy & Jeff held two weddings on October 11th, 2015; one was in Half Moon bay and the other/s were two traditional tea ceremonies held at their parents' homes. It was beautiful to see traditions coming together in one day, and was inspiring to see the different generations celebrating a wedding...

Karon & Marek held their wedding ceremony overlooking the stunning Crystal Springs Reservoir in Burlingame, California. They've been together for nearly two decades and it was an honor to film their wedding day with this tight-knit community of friends and family. I have filmed this group before and they always bring a unique sense of humor and play to their friends' wedding days.

Jenna & Brent held their wedding in Moraga, California, in the beautiful chapel and campus at Saint Mary's College. They exuded a dizzy happiness the entire day and probably led the way in the most spirited dancing I've seen at a wedding so far. Their son, Kasen, was happy to join them at the altar, and in their first dance. Highlights Feature coming soon...

My friends, Centa and J, got hitched at SF City Hall last week, and they asked me to take candid, unposed photos of their day. I love shooting in SF and at City Hall, and I'm always eager to work on my photography skills. Even though I was keen to do a short film for them, as that's my speciality, I couldn't pass this opportunity to document their wedding in a cinema vérité-like, off-the-cuff and playful manner.
Shot along Market Street, SF City Hall, Hotel Palomar and Fort Point
Big changes happening at VA Films.
A site re-design seemed in order after I moved my studio from the redwoods in the Soquel hills down to an artist community along the north coast of Santa Cruz. From the mountains, to the sea.
More to come on this space a little later, but in the meantime, have a look at my latest preview of Ali (my cousin!) and Bo's wedding at Holman Ranch in Carmel, California, filmed last October:
